Introducing Chiropractor Dr. Richard Cook

Chiropractor Dr. Richard Cook

“I never went to a Chiropractor before I became one,” explains Dr. Richard Cook.  “But I am a definite believer in its benefits and abilities.  Throughout the many years I have been in practice, I have witnessed thousands of individuals whose health and way of life have extremely benefited from Chiropractic care.  I, myself, get an adjustment every week and recommend chiropractic care in maintaining your overall health.”

Dr. Cook is a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. He graduated in September of 1969 and has been a practicing chiropractic physician for 38 years.  He entered Chiropractic College after serving 4 years in the Air Force and only decided to become a chiropractor after his wife asked him to become one.   “I had just gotten out of the military and was wondering what to do with myself when she suggested I become a chiropractor.  She had been to one before and wanted the free treatment.  I couldn’t argue with that,” remembers Dr. Cook.

Dr. Cook commutes from his home in Mobile, Alabama, where he resides with his wife of 45 years, Rochelle; they have four children and 13 grandchildren.  He is quite the jokester, has a great rapport with the staff and the patients and would not be opposed to being offered a plate of peanut butter cookies.

“I enjoy helping people,” says Dr. Cook, “that is why I choose not to be retired.  I truly enjoy seeing people happy and healthy and I like knowing that I had a hand in getting them to feel better.”

Dr. Sayers Asks some important questions of interest to Trussville and Birmingham residents - Chiropractor Trussville and Birmingham Dr. Sayers Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognize two types of nerve disorders involved in subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
